The World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held a series of preliminary meetings with different countries’ ambassadors and representatives to underline their commitment to WGEO’s States Platform.

While the meetings outlined the vision and mission of the organization, it also aimed to encourage countries to step up a collaborative forum and create an institutional framework which translates green challenges into opportunities.

“The World Green Economy Organization works in conjunction with countries all over the world to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. The organization aims to increase the collaboration between public and private sectors to consolidate global green economic development efforts and integrate green growth into their economic development agenda, rather than produce one-off environmental projects. We are confident that the united efforts of the countries will accelerate a fast-paced growth that will boost the competitive strength of the green economy around the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO).

The World Green Economy Organization has taken on the responsibility of aiding countries to transition to green economy and relies on the successful partnership model to promote the widespread acceptance of green economy. By bringing together a wide range of stakeholders, WGEO aims to provide a platform from which its wide range of stakeholders can work collaboratively and share expertise and best practices.

“The World Green Economy Organization is a robust platform that offers strategic support to countries who demonstrate their commitment to green growth. We are confident that the collaborative spirit of the countries will accelerate speedy conversion to green economy as well as enhance the environment while enabling seamless diffusion of new green technologies to all parts of the world,” said Abdulrahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, Director of the Dubai office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC.

To advocate the growth of sustainable development, The World Green Economy Organization has outlined five key strategies including supporting the green economy through partnerships, social communication and investment promotion, along with creating an environment that enables adoption of appropriate policies and offering support through legislations, capacity building and promoting innovation through research and sharing technology.

The World Green Organization is a strategic platform for international cooperation and knowledge exchange between developed and developing countries, public and private sectors and international organizations that ensure a stronger and fairer international green model. It is founded on seven platforms for a range of sectors, including Sustainable Cities, Private Sector, Academic Sector, Organizations & Civil Society, Youth Sector and Financial Sector.

The World Green Economy Organization was launched under the vision of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai during the third edition of The World Green Economy Summit in Dubai. The organization is supported by the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to promote the widespread acceptance and increased importance of the green economy in the context of sustainable development.
