Dialogue at WGES 2026 focuses on translating sustainability commitments into commercially viable investments and stronger partnerships.
Dubai, UAE, October 2026: The World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) convened a Green Circle session during the World Green Economy Summit 2026 to explore how businesses can mobilise private capital, scale green solutions and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Held on 21 October at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the title “From Success to Scale: Mobilizing Private Capital to Scale the Green Economy and Advance the SDGs,” the session focused on connecting sustainability priorities with corporate investment decisions, financing strategies and business growth.
The session opened with remarks by HE Abdulrahim Sultan, Director General of WGEO, followed by a keynote address by HE Thoriq Ibrahim, Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the UAE. Jacobs provided the framing presentation and moderated the roundtable discussion.
The dialogue examined three interconnected priorities: mobilising investment and allocating capital; using financial innovation to scale green solutions; and strengthening partnerships between businesses, financial institutions, investors and international networks.
Topics included the role of chief financial officers and finance teams in integrating sustainability into investment appraisal and risk management, alongside barriers such as project bankability, financing costs, data quality and market readiness. Sustainable finance instruments and blended finance approaches formed part of the discussion on enabling commercially viable green investments.
The session also explored how international business partnerships can expand access to investment, technology and markets, supporting progress in clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, responsible production and climate action.
Through its Green Circles initiative, WGEO connects private sector knowledge, technology and finance with wider green economy priorities. The session reinforced the initiative’s role in bringing stakeholders together to explore practical pathways from sustainability commitments to investment and implementation.
