Background

WGEO’s mission is to promote the widespread adoption of green economy principles and practices within the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication. To take the green economy conversation forward at the global level, WGEO in collaboration and with guidance from the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, is organizing a Ministerial Roundtable on Green Economy on September 28th, 2022, at WGES 2022.

This Ministerial Roundtable at WGES 2022 therefore aims at discussing strategic Partnerships with the WGEO on green economy action and investments, with the objective to launch flagships programmes to support the WGEO partner countries.

The Roundtable also aims to make the necessary linkages with the Paris Agreement and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as the mechanisms to finance and implement them are relevant. This harmonization is essential in the lead-up to COP 27 in Egypt, and COP 28 in the UAE.
