Program & Event Lead – WGEO Platforms
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the WGEO Senior Director, the Program & Event Lead is responsible to run the coordination of program and events. The Program & Event Lead will be responsible for day-to-day coordination of program and events of WGEO. The Program & Events Lead’s prime responsibility is to initiate, plan and coordinate the implementation of programs and events connected to priorities initiatives specified herein at the highest possible standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
Summary of Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate the management of existing and new programs and events of WGEO
- Working with the Senior Director to lead on the organization of programmatic events and programs including:
- Capacity building programs such as trainings, workshops and seminars
- Members engagement platform meeting
- Membership recruitment platforms
- C-level thematic platforms events
- WGEO sessions at WGEO flagship events
- New and existing platforms programs
- Propose, design and initiate new programs and events related to WGEO’s mandate utilizing WGEO platforms and resources.
- Prepare concept notes, planning forms, post-event report and annual program report following due process and organization standard documents to provide an overview of WGEO programs and events activities and to ensure adequate monitoring and accountability.
- Suggest topics that are of interest to WGEO members as well as to participating partners and observers.
- Find relevant experts to organize and take part in suggested programs and events.
- Liaise with the members of the WGEO, WGEO platform focal points, strategic partners as well as the communications, IT, marketing, logistics, protocol and PR teams to support the roll-out of activities for regional events and programs.
- Generate, build and nurture relationships with WGEO Platforms to ensure effective communication and cooperation between them.
- Conduct an annual survey to WGEO platforms members to gather feedback on the level of satisfaction and areas of development for the next year.
Expected Outcome:
- Delivery of trainings to WGEO member and non-members to deep dive into various topics relevant to the region (youth & innovation, adaptation, mitigation, just transition, climate change, climate finance, renewable energies, etc.).
- Delivery of WGEO Platforms meetings to develop, validate and previous and upcoming platforms annual roadmap.
- Delivery of Open House events to present WGEO with the aim to actively recruit companies, by working with key partners such as Chambers of Commerce, professional associations, and similar organizations.
- Delivery of thematic CSO Roundtable.
- Design and manage the coordination of sessions at the World Green Economy Summit, Global Ministerial Dialogue, Global Alliance on Green Economy events and other convening platforms.
- Coordinate new and existing programs of WGEO as required.

- Increased numbers of companies joining the WGEO Platforms.

- Qualitative and quantitative successful on time delivery of programs and events with strong business participation
- Increased awareness of the WGEO and its value proposition towards the private sector.
Knowledge / Experience/ Skills:
- 2-4 years of working experience preferable, entry-level welcome
- A first-level university degree in marketing, business administration, management, economics, political science, social science or related field.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Teams/SharePoint and Zoom
