International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC)
WGEO is the official issuer in Dubai for the I-REC international standard for renewable energy certificates. With this instrument, power generators/marketers can sell the green attribute of electricity to consumers seeking to claim said attribute to support their declarations of electricity consumption from renewable sources. WGEO is responsible for the registration of ‘Registrants’ (production device owners or entities acting on production device owners’ behalf) and their respective production devices in Dubai.
Renewable Energy Certificates
A REC Represents proof that one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity was generated by an eligible renewable energy resource
Each REC embodies the renewable energy attributes (environmental & social) associated with the generation of power from that resource
How Do Recs Work
